High Quality Work
Claim 1 Evidence
Westchester student work has grown in its craftsmanship, authenticity, and complexity.
High Quality Work has been at the forefront of student work since year one. The hurdle was to figure out how to deepen the level of complexity, craftsmanship and authenticity so that we challenged our students to produce high quality work. As a new school, teacher's knowledge varied in their level of understanding of EL Education. Subsequently, interpreting what High Quality Work should look like was consistently discussed amongst faculty and staff in meaningful ways. Our High Quality Work Protocols enabled us to capture strengths and next steps as we continued to improve instruction and learning. We noticed that our initial work reflected strong examples in craftsmanship and that complexity and authenticity were areas to improve upon. The culture has been created where students know that going from good to better is part of being a scholar.
